The Law Clerk position is primarily responsible to assist with clerical legal matters, including management of business registrations and licenses.  Key duties include dealing with corporate filings, preparing basic legal drafts, maintaining corporate minute books and providing legal and administrative support.

Some of the major duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Prepare and submit corporate filings for HCCA and its subsidiaries (annual filings, officer and director changes) and track dates
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned
  • Keep Contract Management system up-to-date and accurate at all times
  • Review and update corporate minute books for HCCA and its subsidiaries and rectify deficiencies
  • Provide legal and administrative support in litigation matters
  • Assist with tracking legal budget (i.e. process incoming bills and invoices)
  • Prepare basic legal drafts by assembling and organizing information for legal documents under supervision

  • Completion of an accredited Law Clerk program
  • Minimum 4 years of experience working for a law firm or financial institution preferred
  • Experience maintaining corporate records, extra provincial licenses
  • Knowledge of the Canada Business Corporations Act
  • Excellent Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio) skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written)skills
  • Ability to interface with team members, and business groups at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent analytical and research skills
  • Fluent English vocabulary, spelling and grammar
