General Summary
The Director, Privacy & Records Management I, North America is responsible for establishing and driving privacy and records management programs, strategy, governance, and initiatives for North America with an emphasis on framework compliance consistent with IP strategies and applicable laws and regulations.  The position ensures that safeguards are in place to facilitate the appropriate use and disposition of customer data, employee data, and other sensitive business information.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and oversee the overall strategy and execution of a comprehensive privacy program, including leadership and development of the privacy team, and the efforts to partner with stakeholders to operationalize and embed privacy governance into all relevant areas of the business. Provide consultation and direction for all privacy program activities for North American offices. Manage the development and revision of policy and procedure governance documents. Provide subject matter expertise from a privacy compliance perspective to projects being developed or maintained internally/externally with OEMs, dealers and business partners. Set direction on third-party and internal data sharing agreements. Review and, if necessary, update customer and consumer privacy notices. Monitor for legal and regulatory changes that may apply to the environment.
Develop and oversee the overall strategy and execution of a comprehensive records management program, including leadership and development of the records management team, and to partner with stakeholders to operationalize and embed records management into all relevant areas of the business. Direct and assist in the identification and maintenance of all records throughout the record lifecycle, from conception to disposition, for North American offices. Provide development, framework, and daily guidance in connection with the review and implementation of customer, business and other records management related solutions, ensuring that adequate coverage exists and safeguards are in place to comply with new and existing retention laws, regulations, and corporate policies
Manage an effective communications program to promote a culture of privacy, security, and records management awareness across North American offices, including regulatory changes, developments impacting business processes, and analysis of process changes. Develop and update awareness and communication materials and monitor ongoing completion. Establish training, scripts, form letters and other support materials and tools for both the privacy and records management program teams
Deliver privacy and records management capabilities as a service to other global entities, generating revenue for the organization.
Serve as principle advisor and oversee reporting of privacy and records management matters to the Vice President of Information Protection and executive leadership.
Establish and manage a cost center budget for the Privacy and Records Management function.
Perform all other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education and Experience 10 years of privacy or records management experience with at least 8 or more years directly managing records management, privacy, security, or compliance capabilities.
Understanding of records management and data protection laws and regulations, fair information practices and core privacy and data protection principles.
CIPP/CIPM/CIPT, CRM, or other privacy or records management certification, law degree, or demonstrable experience.
Law degree preferred.
Familiarity with information technology (applications and architectures) used in enterprise systems preferred.
Experience in managing a multi-million dollar annual budget preferred.
